The following will help you in selecting a router bit for a particular routing job……

1.  Always use the largest shank bit possible for the job.
·        An increase from ¼” to 3/8” increases the strength by 50%.
·        A ¼” should not cut deeper than ¾”.

2.  For the best cut, select bits that allow for maximum chip removal.
This will also maintain a sharper edge on the bit.  Double-edged bits provide the best quality of cut.

3.  Avoid single flute bits over 3/8” in diameter.
4.  The length of the bit should not exceed 3 times the diameter of the bit.

  5.  Match the bit with the speed of your router

           Bit Size                     Max Speed

      0-1”                               24,000 RPM
      0-2”                               18,000
      0-2 ½”                           16,000
      0-3 ½”                          12,000
  6.  Always select a bit best matched for the job.
  7.  Always buy Whiteside Router Bits, which stay sharper longer.
  8.  Always try to use the bit with the shortest cutter length and the largest shank diameter.
  9.  Small diameter router bits have limited clearance and chip removal ability
  10. A carbide bit will dissipate heat faster.

BOW ARM MORRIS CHAIR

This chair is a direct reflection of the work done by William Morris in England in the early 1900's. It is also influenced by the work of Gustav Stickley here in America. This chair features quadralinear leg post construction. These posts have four quarter sawn oak boards mitered and then glued. This construction technique best displays the oak's ray flake which seems to wrap around the leg. Our well detailed instructions explain three different methods of leg construction. Size: 40" high by 36" wide and 42" deep.

  4-Piece Solid Steel Square Set

This set includes 2”, 3”, 4”, and 6” squares in a beautiful wooden lined box for safe storage. You will use them wherever accurate inside or outside right angle set-ups are necessary.   Perfect for checking and setting up table saws, miter gauges, fences and joinery.

Enjoy your woodworking, and share your skills and knowledge with others.
