Roll Top Desks are part of American History and are a challenging project to build. In 1850, Abner Cutler, owner of the Cutler Desk Co. in Buffalo, New York, was the first American to patent the roll top desk that we know today. The curved tambour top became his standard and it has become a classic style that has endured for more than 145 years. Without a doubt this rendition of a Cutler Roll Top Desk, has been our most popular design. We have expanded the directions to 14 pages and they detail jigs and fixtures for building the tambour which greatly reduces your cost to build this American Classic.
